Kahnawà:ke – March 20, 2026
The Kanatahkwèn:ke Building Committee, representing the partnership of the Kanien’kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa Language & Cultural Center (KORLCC), Turtle Island Theatre, Kahnawà:ke Tourism, and the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke, expresses its sincere gratitude for the generous $500,000 donation from the Des Cultures Wind Farm.
The Des Cultures Wind Farm is a 24 MW project with six turbines in Saint-Rémi and Saint-Michel, jointly owned by Kruger Energy and Kahnawà:ke Sustainable Energies (KSE), a subsidiary of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke through the Des Cultures Renewable Energy Limited Partnership.
Co-developed by Tewatohnhi’saktha, the farm has been producing renewable energy since 2022, powering over 2,500 homes. KSE provides an important source of revenue for Kahnawà:ke in a sustainable, environmentally aligned way and supports community initiatives, including contributions to Kanatahkwèn:ke.
This contribution brings the Capital Campaign closer to its $16 million fundraising goal, supporting the advancement of the Kanatahkwèn:ke Project.
“We are pleased that our partners at Des Cultures Wind Farm value the need for and importance of the space and are thankful for this heartwarming donation which has brought us closer to the end of our goal.” said Kawennanóron Lisa Phillips, Executive Director, KORLCC.
“From the beginning, our relationship with the Kahnawà:ke community has been grounded in shared values: long-term collaboration, trust, and respect. This community’s cultural vitality is a source of inspiration, and we are proud to support a space that fosters cultural expression, learning, and intergenerational transmission,” said Jean Roy, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Kruger Energy and representative of Des Cultures Wind Farm.
